And the others I took a camera shot with to research. 86, 86, 84, 86 ... (terrible for this price) WTF???
And my personal favorite. I dunno how the hell they managed to do this. It MUST be some great effort, because Stag's Leap Wine Cellars just does not do bad wine...
Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Artemis 2002 ... 83 points.
Wine Spectator's review: "Austere, with a dry, cedary oak and camphor character and little in the way of noticeable fruit. Perhaps it's in a dumb phase, but there's little here to get excited about. Drink now." ...
This is awful. What WASTE of $60 that would have been. How did they even do that? They must have SCOURED the wine selections to find that one piece of crap from Stag's Leap and tossed it out onto the shelf.
I wouldn't be so up in arms about this issue, if they weren't being so slimy. EVERY SINGLE wine they sell, are fantastic wines IF you get one year newer or older than what they're selling. So they're relying on people going "Oh wow... that's a great deal, I read about that wine.." and they get it home and OOPS. That was the bad year. You were thinking of the one that was a year older. Sucks to be you.
They even had Grgich Hills Cab Sauv, 2000. One of my favorite winerys EXCEPT ... 2000 was a terrible year. This $70 bottle of wine lands an abysmal 86 points.
C'mon safeway... stop preying on the STUPID. This is food, not the stock market. Stop buying low and selling high.
It used to be that you could get good deals on wine at safeway. Apparently someone else noticed that. Fuckers.
