So I got 3rd place in A-Stock at the autocross on Sunday. I'm pretty stoked about it, I had a pretty good time and there's still plenty of speed left to be found. I need to work on finding the corners of my car because I'm not getting close enough to the cones. I'm pondering suspension upgrades..

Here's a video of all four runs. The last one was my fastest.

Listen to that exhaust! :)

That does sound good. A few things to remember about autocross:

-Turn into the cones, not around them. :)
-Always be hard on the throttle, or hard on the brake. Unless you're running a course that has broader turns where you need to throttle modulate, DON'T coast!
-Autocross is 70% driver, 20% tires, 10% car.
-Pick a line and apex corners that best match your car's layout (awd). Don't be afraid to hammer it earlier coming out of the corner exits.

Oh, and find a better course. Hahaha, that one is so tiny! But glad you had fun. What other cars were in A-Stock?

I need to work on the corners a lot, I can see that I still have lots of room between me and the cones.

As far as the throttle and the brakes, I agree. I definitely need to drive the car more aggressively.

I also can see in the video that I'm not getting on the throttle coming out of the corners. This is also due to me being too conservative.

As for the course size, a one minute course isn't small. The lot was small but they doubled up on one area which was pretty cool. I reached the top of 2nd gear down one straight which was 75 mph. Blue Ridge uses 14 different locations for it's events. The next one will be a lot closer to where I live, and it's lot size is a lot bigger. The course will be about as long though, roughly one minute.

One thing I should add was that this particular event was called the "Traction Limited Autocross" ... what you can't see is that the whole course was covered in a lot of dirt and gravel. Even after a day of people sliding around it was still covered in it. It was very slippery in some areas.

Oh, that's interesting. Have you ever seen any of my autocross vids? They're older from when I was still back in KC, but still neat. :D [/egotrip] I have a suction mount that sticks to the side of my car.
