So last night I spent some time soldering together a 555 timer circuit in preparation for a mod to the audi's clutch switch. By keeping the clutch "home" switch tripped open and closing briefly once every 8 seconds, the drive-by-wire throttle changes modes to that of a MUCH more responsive (and less refined) one that accurately tracks the position of the gas pedal. For reference, stock, if you're driving through a parking lot and stomp on the gas a few times real fast, the car just keeps moving forward at it's original speed. It's as though the gas pedal is connected to nothing. The ECU has decided "No, you really don't want to do that, that will make the car buck forward and that would be unrefined." ... there is a slew of bullshit like this, the least desirable being it's unwillingness to apply 100% throttle at any time without taking about 2 seconds to do it. It produces this sort of "turbo lag" effect except that there are no turbos. I want my throttle response NOW and when I stomp on it I want my head to snap backwards. If I wanted a mercedes with a slushbox automatic and have it be all cushy and smooth and "refined" ... I'd buy a mercedes.

So. This mod fixes that.

Unfortunately, one of the things used during this soldering job was a small latex bulb desoldering tool. Galen and Alaskanwolf felt it amusing to use it to shoot air at Saku. Saku got very bent out of shape over this, trying to bite at the air and very aggressively trying to steal the "toy" away from us so he could destroy it like some arch nemesis. From the moment I saw his ferver, I knew.. that night.. no matter how well guarded. He would get that desoldering bulb.

So I carried it around in my pocket. I never lethim near it. If it was on the table, I was next to it.

That night when I went to bed, I left the bedrom door open a crack on accident while brushing my teeth. When I got done brushing my teeth, I found him quietly sitting in his cage. Too quiet. And positioned oddly. I reached under him and found the desoldering bulb. Covered in spit, full of holes. I grumbled to myself and hid it high up on a shelf where he can't reach it. Veerrry sneaky. :P
All that aside, I'm listening to my co-worker hack and cough. This is not the first time he has done this. I'd say he's been going through heavy bouts of coughing for about two months. It comes and goes, he is acting clueless and oblivious, claiming it's just a cold. I've never heard a wheezing cough like that from a cold. Anyone know what it could be, and how contagious it might be?

I had a nagging cough for 2 or 3 months, sounded horrible. It finalyl went away. The cough was always present, btu other symptoms changed: runny nose, sneezing, sinus drainage... it felt like I caught a string of colds.

Could be a cold, especially if he has sensitive lungs from having pneumonia earlier in life. Seems to me that whenever I get a cold or bug, I wheeze and hack and cough. I'd get a normal cold and it would move down into my lungs. It's not hard to get a string of those.

Of course, I also noticed that where I lived seemed to play a part as well, so it could have something to do with mold or air quality or dust or ...

Malamutes are horrible about the revenge thing. They will hold a grudge on an object and seek it out until they can destroy it. Aside from random sampling (chewing) of objects just to see what they are.

My puppy has pulled all the wool off my sheep skin seat covers, chewed my ebrake and my stick. She bit my cell phone charger cable in half, one clean bite. Has eaten multiple water/food dishes(now replaced with stainless steel) and loves to seek out and destroy electrical cables as they bite back. When they bite back she tends to piddle.. so today she is getting a muzzle for her own safety as no matter how hard I try I can not eliminate cables from my life and she will seek out, work for hours, pull things apart just to get one chomp on a cable. She also has a thing for eating collars and leashes, anything made out of nylon material.

Teasing a dog with something, as you most likely know will end up in its distruction soon after.

Wow.. that was kinda a babble. Sorry.

Tell your co-worker he should get that cough checked out.

My grandfather had a persistant cough, just a minor little *kof* every so often. It turned out to be Pulmonary Fibrosis, which eventually killed him. If he'd done something about it early on, it would have been more treatable, and he'd still be alive and well today.

Careful 'bout taunting da monster with something that is toxic (i.e., lead solder bits inside the bulb).

Yeah, go right for something big like a transformer or a live wire. Such things my pup seems to find quite tasty. I gotta go check on her muzzle now.
