We really do suck when it comes to driving. I knew my observations wern't irrational.

You know why? Because it's painfully easy to get a license in the US. It takes no effort at all. None.

Case in point: I'd never driven before in my life in 99. I was 19, and getting my license for the first time. I went to the DMV, got a book, read it. Next day, went in for my written test, and had my road test the same day.

I walked out with a license.

In two days I went from no driving experience to state licensed driver. But it's like that in every state. In countries in Europe, you have to pay and take courses to get your driver's test. You have to pay $500 to $2000 depending on where you are, and have a minimum of 40 to 80 hours of driving experience with a *private* driving school before you're eligable.

Europeans, thus, know more about driving and road safety because they have to work at it. In the US, all you have to do is know how to memorize a few rules, and MAYBE parallel park. That's it.

I can't count how many accidents I've nearly been in while living in Philly because of people not understanding why turn signals are so important. Either people don't signal at all, or only signal *AFTER* they start to turn. Which doesn't help other drivers when you slam on your brakes, stop and turn... *THEN* put on your signal.

I have wet dreams where I get chase other drivers, pull them from their cars and beat them to a bloody pulp for not signalling.

Just to keep myself in the habit, I'll signal even if I'm the only car in a 20 mile radius.

I feel a deaf audience whenever I start comparing the US to other parts of the world in a condescending way.

We're the best, and we're not going to hear anything different.

Oh, and it's my right to drive however the hell I want in whatever lane I want, so fuck you faggot.

Yeah, but then the US is well noted throughout the world as being a country that can't look beyond its borders -- UNLESS we're fighting them.

So Stupid..
I really am, K. I have been driving like an idiot lately. My new neighbor read me teh riot act over noise (and I wasn't making any!) and I was so upset after all of that that I ran two red lights because my mind just wasn't there. Damn.

Anyway, much love. Take care OK? Now that my keyboard's up and running, I'll be sure to touch base with you more often.

All the best,

-Voss-

P.S. I took the porsche up the hills in SF today. Man, do I have some stories for you.
