My ears are moving in response to sounds that are going on around me. Some days it hardly ever occurs, others like today it's very noticeable. More today than in the past that I can remember.
It's so involuntary and strange feeling that it's like a muscle spasm, except that it's entirely in response to noises in the office place. In the past my right ear has done it more than my left, but today the left is reacting just as much. Depending on which side of me sound is coming from (usually) the ear closest is the one that moves more.

I do keep an eye on what is going on around me. I like to know if someone is walking by etc. There isn't really anything I need to hide but just as a general thing I stay tuned in. The more tuned in I get, the more my ears react. Today I cannot tune out, no matter how hard I try.

The whole ear thing almost breaks my concentration on what I'm working on. And to this day I still can't voluntarily move them!

The most recent, amusing aspect about this is when I'm making a lane change. When I want to see if a car is in my blind spot on the right I start doing a mental reference of short term memory on car positions in my vicinity. As I think about what might be to the right of me, my right ear moves a little. As though somehow I'd hear the car, yet there's no way that I can.

I'm not complaining about this, it's really amusing. But. It is strange. I've tried finding out if other people do this, but havn't found anything so far. And if it was really unique and I had to prove it or something, that'd be a piece of cake. Just watch me. It isn't voluntary, and it happens so fast in response to sounds going on around me, I doubt I could do it on purpose even if I wanted to. /certainly/ not while I'm preoccupied with something. It's really like they've got a mind of their own.

Again, I'm not complaining. They wanna change shape and grow some fur or something, FINE BY ME! Hahha. I can wish...

While my ears don't necessarily move to see if they can hear a car, I drive in a similar fashion. I drive my mom nuts when she's with me because I don't look for a car in the place where I'm going. In truth, I probably have been watching the spot for a while to make sure no one's there. When I change lanes, my eyes qare more focused on the vehicles in front of me in case they should suddenly brake or swerve and force me to change my plans.

Now in high school, I could recognize my friends by their footsteps. With aa creeky house that doesn't work so well, but I find myself trying. :)
