No more going to the gym!

Keman and I have decided that we're not going to the gym anymore.

Well, we actually stopped going a while ago, but last night decided that we're going to make it official.

Instead, we bought one of these. New Balance 9.0e Elliptical Trainer.. 18" stride, 8 levels of magnetic resistance, and 4 heart rate controlled programs. Got it for $450 off list price, too.

I dragged myself out of bed early this morning to use it... *groan* It felt pretty good, but it's definately going to take some getting used to. Getting up early, working out for 30-45 minutes before showering and going to work... Well, this morning I only did 15 minutes 'cause it's been a while and I need to ramp back up, but my goal is to be doing 30-45 minutes every morning. Or maybe 30 minutes in the morning and 30 in the evening.

Keman put it together for me, he's such a sweet wolf. :-)

Only drawbacks so far:
* No TV or computer in the room that it's in
* Nothing to place a book on to read while exercising
* No music in the room, but that's easily solvable
* No fan, but that's also easily solvable.

Damn, he actually beat me to it.

This url is a bit more descriptive of the unit though.

I used it for a half hour this morning and feel fantastic.

Only beef with it thus far is that it doesn't measure my pulse very well at all, though by the end of the half hour I figured out a way to hold the grips such that it measures it properly. Kind of a kludge, but it works and I'm happy.

Best part is... I got to get a good cardio wearing nothing but a speedo and it wasn't a fasion contest, no staring, no assumptions of tryin to show off, no bullshit, nothing. I literally rolled outa bed, hopped onto the elliptical, 30 minutes kicked by and then I hopped into the shower and went to work.

Yeah I use to work out at home while watching TV or listening to music. Dont think I could do it with something in the background

You think you'll use exercise equpiment, and you use it less and less.. then soon don't use it at all. *heh* I know that from my own Gym subscription.
